Kefer Sutherland – Wreckless & Me CD signed in silver pen

Reckless & Me by Kiefer Sutherland

Kiefer Sutherland follows his critically acclaimed 2016 debut ‘Down In A Hole’ by releasing the follow-up ‘Reckless & Me’ on April 26th via BMG. ‘Reckless & Me’ is the second chapter in a musical journey that has seen Sutherland play hundreds of shows. Initial praise included The Guardian who stated, “The action star’s whiskey-sodden country music set is genuinely poignant,” while Rolling Stone noted his “edgy vocals blended with passion.”

‘Reckless & Me’ emerged organically from Sutherland’s touring in support of his debut. The ten songs were written primarily by Sutherland with select contributions from his producer and long-term friend Jude Cole.

They recorded the majority of the album in two sets of sessions, each spanning three or four days, at Capitol Studios in Los AngelesSutherland was inspired by the location’s rich history, and especially by posing next to a photo of Paul McCartney looking back at a photo of Frank Sinatra. Their supporting musicians shared a strong pedigree, notably guitarist Waddy Wachtel (Stevie Nicks), drummer Brian MacLeod (Sheryl Crow) and the legendary pianist Jim Cox.

While country music is the beating heart of ‘Reckless & Me’, its songs span wider Americana, encompassing folk, rock, blues and a whole lot more. They’re all connected by Sutherland’s love of sharing stories, whether by recounting snapshot of his own life or relating the experiences of others.

Melanie C – Melanie C CD signed

A vital voice in the modern discourse on depression, body positivity, and the LGBTQ community, her trailblazing influence has arguably never been more apparent and some of the key writers of the moment have teamed up to work with her. Alongside Rae Morris and Fryars, who co-penned the first single WHO I AM, co-writers include Jonny Lattimer (Ellie Goulding, James Bay, Rag ‘n’ Bone Man), Future Cut (Little Mix, Shakira, Lily Allen), Tom Neville (Dua Lipa, Kesha, Calvin Harris) and Shura.

Among the tracks she releases here are the slinky, tropical-tinged Overload, a warning to a people getting on your nerves, and Escape, a broken beats-driven track about escaping everyday life. The summery Self Love owes a debt to Donna Summer, while Melanie’s love of Billie Eilish influenced the moody, intimate Nowhere to Run. Melanie and Billie’s admiration for one another was plain to see at this year’s BRIT Awards, where Melanie presented Billie with the Best International Female Solo Artist award after a long embrace.

Who I Am and second single Blame It On Me have both set up the self-titled album and despite releasing during a global lockdown, she has performed to great acclaim on TV and online across the world on flagship shows such as The One Show in the UK, no less than 4 million plus German TV shows and James Corden’s Late Late show in the US where her performance is now the benchmark. With growing streaming support and A list radio support on both tracks in the UK, Australia, Latin America, SE Asia and Germany so far, it’s a global new chapter for Girl Power.

TRACKLISTING:

1. Who I Am.

2. Blame it on Me.

3. Good Enough.

4. Escape.

5. Overload.

6. Fearless.

7. Here I Am.

8. Nowhere to Run.

Luke Evans – At Last CD signed in gold pen

‘At Last’ brings together an eclectic collection of modern and classic songs, personally curated by Evans to highlight and complement his unique delivery and vocal style.

The bold and imaginative selection of songs that have been reimagined by Evans include a huge, orchestral rendition of the Pat Benatar rock classic, ‘Love Is A Battlefield’, which turns the track into something otherworldly along side other modern classics such as U2’s ‘With Or Without You’, Maria McKee’s 90’s power ballad ‘Show Me Heaven’ and Cher’s ‘If I Could Turn Back Time’, along with the Etta James’ Jazz standard ‘At Last’ and ‘First Time Ever I Saw Your Face’ by Roberta Flack.   Recorded in 2019 at the world famous Sarm Studios in London, Luke worked with producer Steve Anderson (Pet Shop Boys, Kylie Minogue, Britney Spears, Take That), The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and in-demand string arranger/composer Cliff Masterson (Kylie, Michael McDonald, Emeli Sandé), who’s stunning work has been used across the world of film and music for decades.

Evans has always had incredibly strong vocal ability beginning his illustrious career on the stage, performing in many of London’s West End productions such as Rent, Miss Saigon, and Piaf before making his film breakthrough in the Clash of the Titans 2010 remake. Evans has continued to take the film world by storm appearing in huge Hollywood blockbusters such as The Fast and The Furious, The Girl On The Train, The Hobbit, 3 Musketeers and many more.  In 2017 the entire world got to witness Luke’s vocal capabilities in Disney’s highly successful, live-action adaptation of the animated classic Beauty and the Beast. Luke starred as lothario and villain ‘Gaston’ alongside Emma Watson’s ‘Belle’

Alan Curbishley Signed Copy Vally Of Dreams

Bibliographic Details

Title: Valley of Dreams

Publisher: HarperSport, London

Publication Date: 2006

Binding: Hard Back

Book Condition: Very Good Plus

Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good Plus

Signed: Signed by Author(s)

Edition: First Edition

Synopsis:

Charlton Athletic represent a model of how a Premiership football club should be run. Former manager Alan Curbishley reveals the secrets of the club’s success – from the boardroom and manager’s office down to the dressing room and pitchside – and reflects on how the club went from homeless strugglers to challenging football’s elite. Alan Curbishley encountered most of football’s ill winds during the 15 years he was coach, co-manager, then sole manager of Charlton – a club once homeless, with gates of less than 3000, forced to sell players to pay the wages and to buy replacement kit for the first team, and teetering on the brink of extinction. Galvanised by fans, staff, forward-thinking board members and a shrewd manager, the Addicks now find themselves firmly established with the Premiership big boys and a shining example of how a successful football club should be run. In his book, Curbishley opens the lid on the soap opera that is Charlton FC. He writes about the political manoeuvrings behind the club’s departure and then emotional return to The Valley. He describes how the they were torn asunder by drugs allegations involving three of its players, including a youthful Lee Bowyer. He re-lives the tortuous rollercoaster ride of falling out of the Premiership two years later before returning in 1999/2000. And he gives an insider’s view of the club’s success in establishing itself in the world’s toughest league, including a full update on their 2005/06 season. He also talks candidly about being shortlisted for the England manager’s job. His book is a radical insight into the workings of a football club and its staff, and is sure to attract widespread interest from football fans across the country.Review:

‘One of the best managers in the game’ ESPN

‘He’s sharp, he’s articulate, and he can spot a bargain’ Guardian

Kent Spitfire Match Shirt signed by Rob Key and Geraint Jones with the Signed Match Ball from the Kent Spitfires v Leicestershire Foxes Friends Life t20 quarter fina Game Saturday, 6 August 2011

Rob Key’s Kent Spitfires travel north this weekend to play the biggest game of their season so far as they take on Leicestershire Foxes. The prize at stake for the winner? A trip to Edgbaston for finals day on Saturday, 27 August.

Both sides battled impressively through their gruelling 16 group games to make the quarter-finals whilst managing to avoid big t20 hitters such as Nottinghamshire, Durham and Lancashire in the last eight. Now, Kent and Leicestershire will both fancy their chances. A strong Spitfires side, which has gelled majestically in this competition, will look to out-gun the Foxes to secure their place in Birmingham’s competition showpiece.

A Star Wars Banner from May The 4TH Be With You

Star Wars Standee Poster – One of only 5 Made for Amazon’s May The Forth Competition! This is over 7ft tall and folds down into its own bag for easy transport. A Collectors dream!

A banner for a competition run by Amazon for #MAYTHE4THBEWITHYOU

Because of the way the date rolls off the tongue, May 4 is unofficially “Star Wars Day,” when fans worldwide celebrate the wildly popular franchise.

It’s also a day when brands embrace their inner Star Wars geek to get in the #MayThe4thBeWithYou spirit.

It started with a pun congratulating Margaret Thatcher, but ever since her election May 4 has been Star Wars Day—not because of any release date anniversary but because the date, when said in a way no one ever says dates, sounds like “May the Force be with you.”

On May 4, 1979, after the previous day’s general election, Thatcher became the first female prime minister in the United Kingdom. To celebrate her victory, her Conservative Party took out a newspaper ad reading “May the Fourth Be With You, Maggie. Congratulations.

MPR Friday Blog

Monday was international women’s day and Sunday is Mothering Sunday. There is an automatic danger as a trans women that I will get the usual grief from certain sections for talking about Mother’s Day so for now I will say whatever your role in your family unit, have a wonderful day.

What I do want to talk about are that the hashtags that are trending this Mothering Sunday weekend such as #ReclaimTheStreets and #NotAllMenButAllWomen

We have all watched with horror as the events of this week have unfolded, what has shocked the nation most is that a serving male police officer appears to be involved. Let me start by saying I know it is not all men, I am not saying that. The calls for men to be curfewed at 6pm made by Baroness Jones may have been made to prove a point, or to get her airtime, but the reality is that, while headline grabbing, it takes column space away from the real issues and front and centre of those issues should be that, if a section of our community is saying there is a problem, then we need to stop and listen.

And there is a problem, because a proportion of women are scared to go out after dark, whether you think their fears are justified or not is not important. What is important is that we start a national conversation, one where all sides speak, not out of fear or hysteria or with minds firmly made up (like most of the national conversations we’ve had the last 5 years or so), but from a place when we remember the words of the late Jo Cox who died violently 5 years ago this summer.

There is more that unites us than divides us’

We need to discuss better education in schools (two young women who have recently finished with the education system tell me there is no mention of consent in sex education). We need to look at how women are portrayed by society. We need to teach girls that the internet images are not real and close down the ever-growing supply of free uncensored porn. But most of all, we need the whole of society to get onboard with this conversation for the reality is we are not only letting young women down but young men as well

Medway Pride Radio will be turning over the “Is it just me?” slot next Thursday to women to start the conversation. The final part of our “Is it just me?” It’s a Sin special will be aired the week after.
